Saints of Failure

Saints of Failure

Carl Jung, Joan of Arc, and the Holy Trinity gather round a vanity table to discuss religion, sexuality, and gender identity while putting on a whole lot of makeup.

SAINTS OF FAILURE is an interdisciplinary solo performance featuring storytelling, movement, projections from appropriated pages of an illuminated Christian Book of Hours, and live makeup transformations. Ryan Conarro invites audiences into memories of loss, discovery, and child-like play. SAINTS OF FAILURE reveals and interrogates the layers of identity that create us, with a focus on the frictions inherent in experiences of growing up gay and Catholic.
